Hints from Rockstar’s Job Listings
Since revealing GTA 6’s first trailer in December 2023, Rockstar has remained silent about new details. However, job postings have provided clues about the game’s features. Recent listings indicate that Rockstar is hiring artists for creature design and animal model rigging, suggesting that a dedicated team is working on wildlife elements in the game. Given that this team likely contributed to RDR2’s highly detailed animals, it’s possible that GTA 6 will also feature an expanded variety of wildlife or even a hunting system.
Hunting in GTA: A Familiar but Limited Feature
Hunting isn’t entirely new to the GTA series. In GTA 5, players could hunt animals as Trevor through a mission involving Cletus Ewing. However, this feature was limited, with only a few animals like deer, coyotes, and birds. In contrast, Red Dead Redemption 2 had over 170 animal species and a complex hunting system that became one of the game’s standout mechanics. If GTA 6 expands on this with a richer ecosystem, it could create a more immersive world than ever before.
Wildlife in GTA 6’s Reveal Trailer
The GTA 6 trailer already showcases several animals native to Florida, including seagulls, flamingos, and an alligator. GTA 5 also featured a variety of animals, such as dogs and cougars, which exist in the real-world version of Leonida—the in-game state based on Florida.

GTA 6 is still scheduled for a 2025 release, but Rockstar has yet to announce a specific launch date. More details about the game’s release timeline may emerge on February 6, when Take-Two Interactive will release its next financial report.
